Happy New Year!
With the start of 2023, we are excited to bring back our Play In La Quinta blog, putting a spotlight on upcoming events and activities residents and visitors of all ages can enjoy.
If your new year goals include a plan to spend more time outdoors, soaking in the incomparable views from and around the Santa Rosa Mountains, Friends of the Desert Mountains can help.
The nonprofit organization is hosting its first “star party” of 2023 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10.
Friends of the Desert Mountains volunteer astronomers will set up their telescopes for the Night Sky Stars Observation at the La Quinta Cove Trails parking lot on Calle Tecate, off Avenida Bermudas.
An ever-changing display of fascinating objects can be seen on a clear night in La Quinta, including stars, constellations, bright planets, and a full moon. You may even see the international space station as it passes over the Coachella Valley.
Reservations are required and can be made online at https://www.desertmountains.org/calendar/nightstars1-10.
A suggested $5 per person tax-deductible donation is appreciated and encouraged to support the nonprofit organization’s volunteer programs.
