La Quinta prides itself on being a hub of activity – from parks that offer a variety of recreation opportunities to local festivals, La Quinta is a model active community. This devotion will be on full display in November.
Art on Main Street is returning to Old Town La Quinta starting November 10th. Art on Main Street is a free community event that allows attendees to browse more than 100 artists and their offerings. Visitors will find a variety of fine local art, including paintings, jewelry, photography, ceramics, sculptures and more. The event runs from 10 AM to 4 PM.
On November 11th our community will gather to honor our Veterans and the 100th anniversary of armistice that ended “The War to End All Wars” (World War I). The city will host the Veteran’s Recognition Ceremony at 9am in the City Hall Courtyard. This event is free; seating is first come, first serve. We will be honoring our citizens who have sacrificed so much for our country by acknowledging them at this ceremony, and forever commemorating their service to country by placing their name on the Veterans Acknowledgement Sculpture at Civic Center Park.
Our Veterans appreciation continues at Old Town Artisan Studio, with another Veteran’s Ceremony at 1100 at The Never-To-Be-Forgotten-Veterans Fountain. Old Town Artisan Studio has made 1,000 ceramic poppies that will be given to each attending veteran.
La Quinta’s very own Craft Beer Festival is back on Saturday, November 17th. Brew In LQ will treat visitors to craft beers from a wide variety of local and regional breweries. The event will begin at 5 PM at the La Quinta Civic Center Park. Attendees will sample beer from 15 different breweries as well as wine. DJ Francesca Harding will be playing music, Coachella Valley Art Scene will be displaying art, and giant lawn games will be provided. This is a 21-and-over event and tickets are on sale at playinlaquinta.com/brew.
Around town residents will see construction begin on the Highway Safety Improvement Program Intersection Improvement Project, which will upgrade the safety lighting and illuminated street name signs at all signalized intersections. All project updates and road closures can be found on a new interactive map on our City’s website.
La Quinta is looking to engage contractors, residents and business owners regarding the current building permitting and inspection process. A survey is available on the City’s website. Information will be used to develop regularly scheduled workshops to facilitate active communication and a forum to discuss measures to streamline and improve the building plan review and inspection processes. The City is hosting a Community Meeting with members of the Cove Neighborhood to discuss the various options addressing the safety of on-street parking along Calle Tecate. The meeting will be held on Thursday November 14th at 6 pm at the La Quinta Museum.
November will be a great month in La Quinta. As we celebrate a beautiful community and enjoy the benefits of our city, let’s not forget to take a moment and remember all of our brave Veterans. Most importantly, let’s honor them by exercising our right to vote on November 6th. An engaged community is a healthy community!
