ENHANCE CULTURE AND ART IN LA QUINTA

Art @ Fifth was created to highlight La Quinta’s commitment and appreciation for the visual arts. Each art piece in the City’s collection contributes to La Quinta’s rich culture while emphasizing the intellectual, creative, and positive lifestyle of La Quinta residents.

The City has acquired and commissioned over 100 unique art pieces through the Art in Public Places program in a variety of mediums including paintings, murals, sculptures, photography, and mixed media. These distinct pieces can be found throughout the City in various public locations such as City Hall, Wellness Center, La Quinta Library, road roundabouts, and City parks!

The Gold Star Family Monument is complete and can be visited at Civic Center Park.

The title of Gold Star Family is reserved for families of military members who have died in the line of duty and is meant to honor the service member’s ultimate sacrifice while acknowledging their family’s loss, grief, and continued healing. La Quinta has a long-standing tradition of honoring veterans by hosting the annual Veterans Recognition Ceremony, during which local veterans have their names, ranks, and dates of service engraved on the Veterans Acknowledgement Monuments that were installed in Civic Center Park in 2000. La Quinta has erected an additional art piece specifically honoring Gold Star Families.

Artist CJ Rench designed and built the Gold Star Family Monument which features three bronze stars mounted on a circular base. The stars have removable panels where the names of fallen soldiers will be engraved alongside military branch information and words of comfort.
