We're hosting a Harry Potter Book Club leading up to and during Harry Potter Month in November! For the next 6 months, starting in June, we'll discuss books 1 - 6 and then have a special final meeting in November with book 7. Limited copies will be available at the Reference Desk for checkout.

***PLEASE NOTE: We'll have two discussion groups at the same time! One for ages 7 - 12 and another for ages 13 and up.

Registration is REQUIRED ONLY for the 7 - 12 group but encouraged for the 13 and up group. Stop by or call the Adult Reference Desk at 760-564-4767 to sign up.

Each discussion will be held the 4th Saturday of the month at 10:30AM.

Here are the dates for each discussion:

- What happens to your recyclables after being picked up

La Quinta Public Library Family Day: Huichol Yarn Painting

Thursday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. —

Create yarn art inspired by the yarn paintings of the Huichol people of Mexico.

The Huichol are famous for their "yarn paintings"- small tablets covered with a mixture of beeswax and pine resin into which threads of yarn are pressed. These paintings are brilliantly colored designs and include likenesses of animals, birds, plants and people.

Materials are provided while supplies last.

Pre-Beginning Computer Classes (Ages 18+)
This three-class series teaches basic computer skills. Topics include computer parts, how to use the mouse and keyboard, typing, and basic Internet/Google search skills.

Adult Literacy Program
Riverside County Library System Adult Literacy Program provides adult literacy services to our communities through one-on- one literacy tutoring, English-as- a-Second- Language classes and family literacy events.

Veterans Resource Center
The Riverside County Library System has received a Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA) Grant to establish a Veterans Resource Center, a resource dedicated to helping veterans and their families.

Career Online – High School
Riverside County Library System, in partnership with the California State Library and Gale, part of the Cengage Learning, offers adults the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma and career certificate online through Career Online High School.
